Ceremony and Ritual

Ceremony engages us with the vast interconnected web of life of both seen and unseen forces. When participating in ceremony we experience our connection with nature and the vital principle held to give life - otherwise known as spirit. Often times during ceremony we receive guidance, healing and/or inspiration. Ceremony can be as simple as setting sacred space by creating an altar, smudging with burning herbs, calling in the seven directions (east, south, west, north, below, above and center) and then pasing a talking stick where each person can speak about what is in their heart or any other topic. Ceremony can be one that is created spontaneously or can be one that has the same basic format each time but is uniquely different depending on the people, circumstance and environment.

Ritual is performed exactly the same every time and usually it is fairly simple. An example of a daily ritual may consist of stepping out the door each morning and consciously breathing with the plants and trees. You become aware of the exchange of breath between you and the green beings. This ritual puts you in direct conscious relationship with the green beings and begins your day on a refreshing and vitalized note.

At Sweetwater Sanctuary we engage in ceremony and ritual on a regular basis, sometimes during classes or sometimes with our community and other times individually. We can advise you on how to create your own ceremonies and rituals or you can participate in ones we may be having here or in classes. Please Connect with us if you would like us to help you design a ceremony or if you are interested in attending a ceremony.
